Interview: Day26

We recently got the chance to catch up with MTB4 reality TV stars and platinum recording artists Day26. These gentlemen are as funny and down to earth as can be. Despite all past MTB drama, Que, Brian, Willie, Robert, and Mike are determined to be permanent fixtures in the music game. Here’s what they had to say…

GE:  How are you guys doing?

Day26:  Good, great great.

GE:  You guys have a new season of Making the Band that’s airing on MTV right now.

Brian:  Yes ma’am.

GE:  How do you all feel about living in front of the camera 24/7?  Does it get tiresome?

Day26:  Nah man, that’s life.  We love that!

GE:  Several episodes have displayed tension in the group, such as the episode airing tonight.  How do you guys resolve issues with one another?

Willie:  We punch each other in the mouth!  Then go about our business! (laughter)

GE:  Punch each other in the mouth?!?

Brian:  Just like any other family, we have our trying times, but we let it happen, walk away from it, come back and talk, pray together.  I mean we’re like a family, you know?

GE:  Next question.  I know it’s the infamous one, but how do you guys feel about the break-up of Danity Kane?  Has it affected you guys?

Brian: Um, initially it kind of hurt, you know what I’m saying?  Because they’re like our sisters but at the end of the day we just feel like the situation could have been a whole lot different.  Breaking up…we just feel like things could have been handled a whole lot better.  But you know, they’re doing they’re thing-big ups to everybody in Danity Kane, but, you know, it’s all about Day26 now.  Album in stores April 14th!

GE:  Who are you guys working with on the album, such as producers?

Brian: Willie talk to ‘em!  Tell ‘em whats gon’ be on the new album boy!  Willie tell ‘em, I don’t think they ready!

GE: Tell us!  We gotta know!(laughter)

Willie: The bulk of the album is done by Day26, so always let people know Day26 done the bulk of this album, period.  But we reached out and got help from new producer Blade, D Major, Bryan-Micheal Cox, Jermaine Dupri, Babyface, Jazze Pha, Mario Winans…it’s was just, it was crazy!

Brian:  Uh, uh who else?  Micheal Bolton…who else?  We got Bjork on the album, we got Al Green–

GE:  Ya’ll playin’! (laughter)

Brian:  Nah I’m just playin’,  It’s very, very hot though.

GE:  That’s whats up.  So are you guys going to be headlining a tour in the near future?  Can we expect that?

Brian:  You know what?  That’s very possible!  We can’t really expose any of that information, but you’re just gonna have to keep supporting Day26, and keep looking out for us, because that just might happen.

GE:  There has been a plethora of male R&B groups in the past, but they are non-exsistant now.  It seems like they’re not around.  So how does Day26 have that staying power?  What are you guys going to do different from those groups to ensure that you stay in the game?

Brian:  Be Day26.

GE:  Be Day26?

Brian:  A group that prays together, stays together.

GE:  Alright I hear you!  Well, do you feel like since the break-up of Danity Kane and the other groups on MTV such as O-Town and DaBand, people are waiting to see you break up?  Like you guys are bound to break-up?

Brian:  Of course we have our little group of haters, there are people hoping and wishing that we do break up but so sorry, we’re not going anywhere!

GE:  That’s what’s up!  I want to thank you guys for talking with us at gritsandeggs.com and I want to wish you all the best of luck in the future!
